Disney Templates

This little video shows how many Disney movie scenes were created from templates. Dunno where they got the soundtrack played on here but I think this yodeling song was a perfect choice.

Thru You on YouTube

From Thru You, eclectic and unique songs created by mixing dozens of YouTube clips together to form something entirely new. As Kutiman says, what you see is what you get. He lists all the clips for each of his own videos both on his site (as one video list) and individually on his YouTube page.

Not precisely work safe

If you spend Monday through Friday, about or between the hours of 9 AM to 5 PM in some sort of cubical like structure. Er. Probably better wait to watch this at home.

Unless you're like the people in my household - IT staff. In which case you know how to use headsets and wipe all traces of foul language viewing from tracing devices on servers. In which case, this is was written for you.

I heart the internet

I love the internet.

When I tell a story, I'll go off in the strangest of tangents. Ask me about my wedding - you'll get to hear about the quest for the Holy Grail Elvis Panties, which leads me to the diversion about how I can't stand Elvis yet had him drive me to my nuptials, which leads me to those weird Elvis sighting that used to happen every other day, to people who think they've been abducted by aliens, all with a nice roundup of this weird show that talked about alien abductions and the movie Deep Throat and YOU try to make sense of what's become of tv programming.

Anyway. I was saying, I love the internet. You start off reading about how bad the economy is, follow a link, and three hours later come up with this: The Moth - Live Storytelling Performances.

This one gives me hope for a person, who is worth much more then the life he has created for himself, will find enjoyment in his own version of riding a patient down the hall.

Things that inspire me

Or, more aptly, people who do.

The few and small amounts of time I've spent with Zack Arias, I've left wanting to be a better person. His quiet strength of spirit inspires me.

I'm not a photographer. And though Zack filmed this for a guest blog post on Scott Kelby's site, I don't believe for an instant that you need to be a photographer to be inspired by this, either.

Straight No Chaser - 12 Days of Christmas

Since I can't seem to find the original from 1996 without doing something akin to work; here's the latest version of Straight No Chaser. From my old stomping grounds in the land of Hoosier-dom.

Saturday at the firehouse

I've written about Weird Neighbor Kid before but not his littler brother, Loud Kid Who Likes to Climb Out 2nd Floor Windows To Crawl On The Roof. Hereafter known as Little Rumpelstiltskin cause he's short, wizened, and stomps his foot when yelling. He also gets very worried when our friend in Animal Control stops by the house for a visit during shift, fearful she's trying to take our dog away. In other words, a typical 7 year old.

Today was his birthday party.

At the Hanover County Volunteer Fire Dept.

They know how to put on a show, lemme tell ya. Starting with a video on fire safety (voice of Gilbert Gottfried as Seemore Smoke, smoke detector had all the adults laughing):

Followed by a full dress-out of a fireman for the kids:

The kids got to play at being a fireman (Birthday Boy pictured here, and can't you just see him ready to stomp his foot?):

And they even got to sit in the firetrucks (Weird Neighbor Kid AKA birthday boy's older brother pictured here):

All culminating in watching the ladder go up on the "big truck" that's pulled out behind Sparkly Punk Mama. (Who has certainly been nominated for coolest mom of the year award.)

Had it been warmer, the kids would've been allow to shoot off the fire hose. Alas, it was bit too chilly and it was time for cake anyways. Firehouse birthday fun was had by all. Including these two goofy oddballs:

Happy birthday Little Rumpelstiltskin. And no more climbing out the window giving me a heart attack, okay?

Wonderful World of Webkinz

Have you heard of Webkinz?

Little stuffed animals - like beanie babies. Difference is, when you buy these little creatures, you can sign up for the free online world where you earn KinzCash playing games to buy your online pet new clothes, food, and build a home for them. Quite the little craze.

And I'm addicted.

Cause in this house? THIS house? WE. COLLECT. MONKEYS. And I'm very serious about my monkeys. They must have tails or they're chimps. And I'm no chump.

Needless to say, I have three stuffed Webkinz monkeys. And yes, I play with them online. But the best part of all this I have become THE house to hang at in the 6 to 11 year old range.

I have the world's cutest little boys living across the street. If you follow me on Twitter, you've seen me post about the 10 year old neighbor kid who comes over to pick my wild onions and eat them. He and his brother collect Webkinz. And when they get a new one, my house is their first bragging stop. Matter of fact, most days when school is out, you'll see the boys trotting over to ask if I'll play Webkinz? No? Can Steve play football? No? What about Hunter, can we play with the dog? Eventually they'll hit on one of who can play. From there it's only a mater of time before the rest of us join in. And before you know it, off to Webkinz we go.

All that to say. Yes, Ez. I heard you. You want me to list some of my secret recipes on my website so your mom can print them off for you. Consider it done. As I come across my little scraps of paper, I'll post them for ya.

Now, um. Wanna play? Cause I need ya to help me figure out how to get that trophy!

Salon John

If you are located in the Richmond, Virginia, area have I got fab news for you. My favorite hair colorist has gone into business for himself.

John Wymer has been my colorist for the past 8 years.
- Excluding the past year and a half. The horrid color I've been walking around with for the past year and a half I've been doing to myself. Don't attribute my horrid self harming phase with John Wymer.

Anywho... moving on...

John has been a close friend of the family for over 10 years. I met John at my first corporate gig outta college. He's the one who helped clue me in to follow my talent. He steadied me when I bought my first house at the precious age of 24. He was at our wedding in Vegas 5 years ago. (Yes. At a drive thru chapel. In a vintage '55 pink Cadillac. Elvis drove. And he sang 2 songs. Then we all went bowling. It was lovely thankyouverymuch.) And more importantly, he plays golf with my husband. He is a wonderfully supportive man and a loyalist to the nth degree.

So it is with enthusiastic cheers I say to John "FREAKING A" and "If I promise to never dye my hair on my own again... will you let me come back? Cause I think I've got a dead rodent on my head. And it doesn't look good."

Sunday mornings

Because my brothers share a room growing up, they got the biggest bedroom in the house. Usually a room large enough to be an efficiency apartment.
- Which reminds me of the time I had such a small apartment I could cook something on the stove and get things out of the refrigerator all while sitting on my bed. I could also sit on the toilet, wash my hands in the sink and wash my feet in the shower all at the same time. But I digress.

Since they had the largest room in the house, excluding the garage, they also had our old goliath of a television. The kind that comes in a built in wooden cabinet and is so large it's meant to sit directly on the floor. The kind with two channel knobs and if you want to watch a station higher then the number 12 you had to turn the first knob to "U" to use the higher numbered knob. Yeah. That kind of goliath television.

On Sundays, we'd sit on the floor of their room watching old movies the local station played. We watched a lot of Shirley Temple and old musicals. It's how I fell in love with "The King and I" and grew to appreciate the amusement that is the Three Stooges. (Shhhhh... don't tell my husband. He thinks I prefer the Marx Brothers.)

And we'd play with legos. After we'd built entire cities of legos, I'd wander off to read in my room while the boys had epic battles between G.I. Joes and Star War action figures. It wasn't unusual to stop by and see the Millennium Falcon flying over the Lego city with a couple of Cobra Troopers hanging off the back. By then end of day, the cities would be destroyed. By end of week it'd finally be cleaned up enough we could start over the following Sunday morning.

Last night I watched "The King and I" on TMC and today I found this. Guess I'm missing a little brotherly love these days.

Xperts my ass

I always find it amusing when a company can't be bothered to proof-read their own website. Especially when they make the exact mistake they are warning people about.

(As always, click on the image to make it larger.)
